General Information
Hill Country Karate (H.C.K.) is a division
of the American
Society of Karate (A.S.K.) established in 1970 by Mr.
Bill Gray in Houston, Texas.
H.C.K. was started by Angel M. Fox (now Smith) and
Nick W. Smith in June of 1983 at one location in New Braunfels,
Texas. It is a community sponsored program which teaches American
karate in a positive, professional manner.
The primary goal of H.C.K. instructors is to develop
students mentally as well as physically by focusing on attitude,
respect and discipline.

H.C.K. currently has 48 locations throughout the Hill
Country area. Presently, the A.S.K. and its divisions teach in approximately
125 locations throughout Texas and one in Oklahoma. The A.S.K. program
is sponsored by school districts, colleges, churches and other community
facilities. By working directly with these local community organizations.,
A.S.K. can offer a complete and affordable martial arts program.

Session Dates:
H.C.K. classes generally run in four 9-12 week sessions per year
with a 6-7 week break between Thanksgiving and the week after New Years.
Registration and new students are accepted the first two weeks of each
session. The 2008 session dates for most classes are below. Please verify
the start and ending dates for a specific class on the class schedule.
Winter Session (11 wks/hrs): 1/14 through 3/28
Spring Session (9 wks/hrs): 3/31 through 5/30
Summer Session (11 wks/hrs): 6/9 through 8/22
Fall Session (11 wks/hrs): 9/8 through 11/21
Cost:
The cost to register is $45.00 for a 9 to 12 week session. There is an
additional $5 administration fee per student due at registration. Junior
students generally train once per week. Junior students who wish to register
in more than one class per week can do so for an additional $20.00. After registering
at one location, adult students can train up to 4 times per week in
other H.C.K. classes at no additional charge. Junior classes are 1 hour
long, while adult classes are 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
Family Discounts:
Family discounts are available for three or more students within the
same immediate family. The family registration cost is $115.00 per family per session
(NEISD does not allow family discounts on registration fees). Once again there is an additional $5 administration fee per student due at registration. A $5.00
discount per participant is also offered on optional activities such
as tournaments, junior karate camps and rank tests when three or more
within the immediate family are participating.
